Abstract

Large temples and high population areas makes it hard to find lost people, particularly children and the elderly. This research project introduces a smart temple information safety and management system based on video surveillance cameras with facial recognition. Visitors register their details and upload their picture before their visit, or at the temple in advance. The temple is equipped with several CCTV cameras. The real-time video stream is then automatically matched with the registered photos. The uniqueness of this system is that it’s lightweight, edge-based solution enables staff to securely search the database and be automatically notified of the CCTV camera locations, without the need for heavy smart-city investments. This approach dra-matically enhances search efficiency, emergency response time and temple safety, while being compliant with video surveillance regulations
